Sexual violence can have profound impacts on a young person’s life. These will be different for different people and the needs that arise out of them may also vary. Despite these differences, the need to have people walk alongside of them while they are healing from the experience of SV is key. Often this role might fall upon a youth worker. The aim of this talk is to understand some of these impacts, explore how best to support people from within a youth worker role, discuss the importance of boundaries and self care when doing this work, and how to engage and work alongside families where appropriate.
