David Shanks is a keynote speaker at Involve 2020 where he helps us to think about his role and what it means to have a Chief Censor. He speaks more widely about the world of the Classification Office as it relates to young people. He mentions key topics of interest in censorship including the terror attacks, pornography and more generally the digital world that young people spend so much time within. He helps the audience to understand the deep thought and ethics that the Office puts into this space. What is free speech? What is enabling young people? How do young people determine their own path? What is the role of the censor and what is the role of other adults to keep young people safe?
